Warung Makan Bu Rus in Ubud

From the front this warung looks so small but after you get in, there are plenty of the table in the garden. I just tried noodles soup with chicken. It was OK and no problem, maybe I should try other menu on the other time.

We've been here 4-5 times in the last month or so. We really like the atmosphere and the food. The staff are great. Yesterday however was the first time they added a surcharge onto our bill for paying with credit card. Restaurants in Bali has generally stopped this , and it's only the 2nd time in 4 months in Bali it has happened. Not sure why they suddenly started charging but 2.5-3% on top of government tax and service charge then you're looking at about 20% on top of the menu prices. Shame.

I like the food especially pork here. The made a good taste of pork. This is convenient place for dining with family. The price is quite cheap, start from twenty thousand rupiah to a hundred rupiah. This place is also near to the street, we find it easily.

It's okay. Let's start with something positive: the location / garden is very nice, with relaxing music in the background. The food not so good. Had two different vegetarian meals and none was tasty. Maybe the ones with meat are better?Too bad. It had potential and fair prices.As another reviewer said, come here for a beer or something.

We were walking down the main road and all of the restaurant prices were so high, we found this place on google, just 2 min walk from the main street. We walked in and were shocked we were eating in a patio surrounded by old relics and history everywhere. The place was so romantic as it turned to night and had candle lit dinner. The food was incredible and had vegetarian options. The cocktails (made with local wine) were about $2 usd each and made with fresh fruit. We had dessert also, grilled bananas in a caramel sauce, mouthwatering. For 2 dinners, 2 cocktails and a dessert, plus tax and service, we paid under $12 usd ($6 each). Great service and ambience. Definitely will return. Please come here and support the locals.

Very nice courtyard for a romantic dinner. Food was good quality and staff was attentive. Very good value for money. Pork ribs were very nice.

Amazing place, with great food and design. We went there twice, the food is very local and juices are amazing. It might not look very appealing from the outside/street but go inside and you will see beatiful garden. Very good value for money.

We love how unassuming this restaurant is from the outside. It feels like you are walking into a whole new world!The seating options are excellent and the food was very delicious. It's competitively priced too.What was so nice for us was how they just asked us what we ordered at the end when we wanted to pay - that level of trust is awesome! We hope it's not abused.

Excellent place and adorable girls attending it. You have various dishes to choose and vegetarian option as well. Prices correlate with the food. Local warung which worths spending time there. I highly recommend going.

Good satay although it was priced fairly high. It was fresh though. They also messed up my order and gave me fries instead of rice although it was okay however I don't know how they messed that up when I was one of three people in the restaurant. Nice atmosphere. Good amount of seating. 10% service charge. Free WiFi.

Raw chicken, arbitrarily pricing, unhelpful staff - stay away. We initially only stopped by to grab a couple of corn fritters to take away on our way to town, which they quickly grabbed from their standing kiosk and charged us 10k, no service charge. Upon realising that we could just grab more and eat lunch at our next destination, we popped back within five minutes just to get more fritters and a nasi campur to take away, all from their standing kiosk. While 5 fritters cost 10k before, they charged us 20k for 8 of them. Alright, that’s fine, we thought - but then they decided to add 10% service charge as well, even though we were not sitting down to eat and even though there was no service charge the first time around. The staff were very unhelpful when we explained why we were taken aback by this and we left with a bit of a sour taste in our mouth, having paid the full amount. For raw chicken, as it turns out... what a nightmare. Avoid, avoid, avoid.

Both me and my wife had food poisoning from this place, considering that we live in asia - the kitchen and handling of foodstock must have been very unsanitary.Food is tasteless and boring - stay away from this place!

Such a total surprise when going past the front entry. I only discovered it on my last night, will certainly be back next time I am in Ubud. Great food and ambience. 🌞

One of the best meals we had in Bali. The location is very close to the busy palace and market in Ubud town but it's not crowded with tourists like many restaurants. You get to seat in a garden beside the busy street. It was very quiet and chill. I liked it a lot.There were not too many choices on the menu. We had mie goreng, chicken curry and satay. All of them tastes really good but not pricy at all. The only down side at that visit is maybe we waited a bit long time (~30 mins) but it was okay for me. I'll definitely come visit again next time I'm Ubud.

The eating is amazing.the patio inside is full of plants and flowers. The food very good, prices are average. I highly recommend this place, we had a great lunch.Juices are also very good.

This spot has got such a special and beautiful vibe. There’s a lovely courtyard away from the Main Street. The food is great and taste fresh. Portions aren’t big but that’s pretty standard in Bali.

The bbq pork ribs were AMAZING and very good value for money only 70k!! Highly recommend!!!! The crispy duck was very crispy however 120k was a bit pricey. The ambience was one of the best, the courtyard in the back is much nicer than the entrance. Service was also great ☺️

Worried might have gotten poisoned. Lots of mosquitos bit us, dont get the whole atmosphere it was ok but nothing special. Fried noodles ok, but the nasi campur eww, the worst. Everything was cold, some of the items had a foul smell so i did not risk eating the dubious egg or all the other room temperature items. Too expensive, go to Krishna for a real good nasi campur that is freshly cooked in front of you

Tried the gado-gado and nasi campur. Worth the price if you don't mind being harassed by some cute kitties. The sambal is also super potent.

Honestly people, check this place out. Looks nothing from the front then into a beautiful garden. Order the ribs and chicken sate. That sate sauce, it's the best I have had in Ubud by far. Also if you are lucky the low tables will be free for maximum relaxation. You will be happy here!

Lovely atmosphere espcially in th evening, staff are very friendly and helpful. Loved the food , perfect ambience for either a date or in a group!

Nice atmosphere, not tasty food

Just as other reviews reported. This little restaurant is hidden away. From the street, you will probably check the map twice as I did. But once you walk past the front facade, you find a quaint outdoor eating area. I had the Nasi Goreng and it was not only very good but reasonably priced [sorry don't remember the price]. I recommend for very good local dishes.

Great little place off main road and away from the noise of tourism. Food is good, basic but tasty. Cheap and friendly staff. Been twice now and if you want a quiet or romantic evening just grab a beer, sit back and take in the relaxed atmosphere. Worth a visit

Bu Rus is a great spot! Tucked away off the street is a beautiful little garden restaurant, overflowing with charm. Friendly staff, high quality food, good prices and modern bathrooms. Would definitely recommend!

The food and atmosphere is value for money. Chicken curry and pork satay were tasty.
